Protect Programs for Low-Income Alaskans

The recent operating budget vetoes signed by the Governor will impact Alaskans from all walks of life at risk. Education, access to healthcare, senior services, and programs that fight homelessness are just a few things at stake. We need your help asking the legislature to OVERRIDE THE VETOES! Here are two ways to take action this week:

1. If you are in Anchorage, attend the Override the Vetoes Rally on Tuesday, July 9th, 5:30-7pm at the Alaska Airlines Center - UAA. Food Bank of Alaska is co-hosting with many other nonprofits, and there will be a special performance by Portugal. The Man. Come show your support for basic needs programs at to this free, family-friendly event. Find more information or RSVP on Facebook here: http://www.facebook.com/events/2088887281221442/

2. Contact your Legislator! It is critical that our legislators hear from Alaskans who are affected by the budget cuts. Need help finding your legislator and how to get in contact with them? Visit http://akleg.gov/index.php and enter your address in the "Who Represents Me?" box at the bottom.
