September is Hunger Action Month!

Food Bank of Alaska invites the public to join the movement to end hunger during Hunger Action Month – a nationwide initiative designed to mobilize the public to take action on the issue. Together with the Feeding America nationwide network of food banks, anti-hunger advocates from across Alaska are working this September to shine a light on the issue of hunger and the people who face hunger in America – including nearly 103,000 here in Alaska.

Food Bank of Alaska is providing several opportunities for community members to get involved in Hunger Action Month:

  • Join us for a tour of Food Bank of Alaska, and get an insider’s look at our warehouse and programs. Tuesday, September 12 from 5:30-6:30pm. RSVP: 222-3102.

Get Social:

  • Take part in our paper plate campaign!
    • Share what you can’t do without adequate nutrition by writing on an empty plate, “On an empty stomach I can’t ______,” and filling in the blank with something you couldn’t achieve without the nutrition needed to thrive.
    • - OR - share what you can do by writing on an empty plate, “This month I will _______ to end hunger.”
    • These photos can be posted to social media with #HungerActionMonth, @FoodBankofAlaska and @FeedingAmerica to join the conversation.
